Change Hurts

Beleaguered body on a raft of nails, shoulders weighted with boulder mirror the pain that had begun to wrack my being. This new pain, worse by far than chronic finger pain, consumed me. A light purple stream suggested I was not alone in the pain. This presence didn’t lift the pain, but made it easier to accept (image 3). Sunshine from the sky in Hawaii had morphed into the wolf mask of Lupus. This factor plus blood irregularities, and joint pain directed my doctors to diagnosis (image 4). I withdrew from social connections and fetal-folded myself into the tree of life (image 5). Neurologic pain I previously suffered, now through Lupus became a source of fierce pain that radiated through my body. Paradoxically, it radiated healing light as well (image 6).
